Dad Poses as Life-Size ‘Elf on the Shelf’ in Hilariously Unsettling Photo Series

If you’re a little tired of the zillions of cutesy “Elf on the Shelf” poses posted on Facebook by doting parents every year, this is for you.

Meet FLE (pronounced “flee”), the mischievous human-size elf, aka Canadian Joe Wynberg.

When Joe and his wife Megan’s friends starting sharing photos of elves in funny locations, the couple decided to one-up them.

“We thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if we did a human Elf on the Shelf?’ Joe told Buzzfeed Canada. “It kind of took off from there.”

In case you’ve lived under a rock since 2005, The Elf on the Shelf is a wildly popular children’s picture book story told in rhyme that comes with a rosy-cheeked elf doll. The story tells children that the elf is a scout for Santa who watches over them, reporting back to the big guy nightly about any naughty and nice behavior and hiding in a different spot every day.

Creatively finding a different spot for the elf to sit daily is both a pleasure and a major headache for thousands of parents. But the Wynbergs are clearly having a heck of a good time coming up with spots for FLE to hang. Which is even more impressive considering the two have four kids!

The creative duo is sharing the adventures of FLE nightly on Facebook in a series of photos, some of which have been shared hundreds of times. Check Megan Wynberg’s Facebook for the latest updates on FLE’s antics.
