Most kids don’t give their parents Christmas presents until they’re much older, but Zooey Deschanel got lucky this year. Her 6-year-old son Charlie gave her the most priceless gift this season, and the video is making us emotional.

In a video posted to Instagram, the New Girl star is dressed in a silver sequin dress and matching crown, while at a holiday party. Christmas music is being played on a piano, as Charlie gives his mama a huge hug. He’s dressed in a red plaid shirt, navy blue vest, and khaki pants while wrapping both arms around his mama’s neck. Deschanel is just sitting still, rubbing his back with her finger (and probably praying this heartfelt moment will never end!).
“When your little guy hugs you for the whole song 🥹,” the Elf actress captioned the heartwarming video. “Merry merry, everyone!”
Deschanel’s fiancé Jonathan Scott commented, “The most beautiful moment of the evening 😍.” Are you crying too?! Kids don’t often enjoy cuddles with their parents — especially out in public — so Deschanel probably felt like she won the lottery in that moment.
Many other people commented on the sweet video as well. Melissa Joan Hart wrote, “Thank you for sharing this beautiful moment! The time flies and moments like this fleeting. Enjoy every minute!”
Her New Girl co-star Hannah Simone wrote, “Oh my heart Zooey ❤️❤️❤️.”

The She & Him singer shares Charlie and daughter Elsie, 8, with ex-husband Jacob Pechenik. Deschanel doesn’t often post her kids to maintain their privacy, but she did let us in on a sweet moment earlier this month when she filmed the Elf on the Shelf at her home.
As she films the video for Instagram, one of her kid’s protests.
“I can’t take a picture of them?” Deschanel asks.
“Well you can…You might not see it. They might disappear in the pictures,” a kid responds in the background.
“Oh,” she responds. “I hope not.”
“What if I have magic video?” she continues, adding, “They are crafty.” So adorable!

The Property Brothers host also shared a peek into the couple’s home recently. “So… we turned our home into a winter wonderland full of whimsy 🤩🎄” he wrote on Instagram, revealing the rainbow-hued décor, candy-themed nutcrackers, and wildly fun Christmas trees in bright colors.
It looks like this family had the most magical Christmas.
