Zooey Deschanel finally joined TikTok and she made sure her debut was noteworthy.

The 41-year-old singer and actress took the theme song from her hit Fox show New Girl and gave it a little twist in her new video. In the clip, Deschanel shows off a variety of summery outfits, ranging from a green jumpsuit to a flowery, white top. As she goes through multiple wardrobe changes, the star sings the words to the New Girl theme: “Hey girl, whatcha' doing? Hey girl, where you going? Who's that girl? (Who's that girl?) Who's that girl? (Who's that girl?).”

However, while the song usually ends with Deschanel referencing her lead character's name, saying, “It's Jess,” she instead brought in a new ending. “No, it's me Zooey,” she says as the song cuts off. “Hi. I'm on TikTok. Yeah. Cool.”

In just a day, the video racked up over 1 million likes and 24k comments. Plenty of fans showed their love for Deschanel's comedy series in the comments, like one user who said, “So TikTok knows that 'New Girl' is the only show I watch.” Another person wrote, “My life has been empty since 'New Girl' ended.” One person even commented, “This made my year thank you for this.”

New Girl aired on Fox for seven seasons, where it earned five Emmy nominations and five Golden Globe nominations throughout its run. Back in 2019, Deschanel talked about how it was hard to keep up with her co-stars from the show because they all lived very far apart. But she added, “I really miss getting to work with everyone.”

We'll be keeping an eye out for more 'toks from Zooey.
