Welcome to AOL Lifestyle's Zoo Babies, which profiles the newest and most adorable additions to zoos across America. From a baby sloth named Wookiee to a rambunctious baby tiger named Carlie, these zoo babies will fulfill your daily dose of cuteness.
Wookiee is the latest addition to the Denver Zoo! The zoo is keeping a close eye on him as he slowly explores the world around him.
The baby sloth made his arrival in April to a first-time mom named Charlotte. And it wasn't long before zookeepers tapped into their love of "Star Wars" for a name.
"Sloths are an interesting species -- their closest relatives are aardvarks and anteaters," explained the zoo's sloth care manager Katie Vyas to AOL Lifestyle.
"A misconception is that sloths are lazy, but this actually isn't true. Sloths are nocturnal, so Charlotte and Wookiee spend most of their day sleeping," she said.
Continued Katie, "Sloths are pretty slow-moving because they have a really slow metabolism. The food they eat doesn't have a lot of nutrients so they need to make sure they conserve their energy."
