Zoë Kravitz clapped back at a troll who made a completely inappropriate comment about her skin tone

With everyone social distancing due to the growing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, even celebrities are figuring out ways to stay entertained and connected to others on social media. Some, like Ashley Benson and Cara Delevingne, are re-enacting scenes from Keeping Up With the Kardashians on TikTok, and others, like Queer Eye‘s Antoni Porowski, are giving cooking lessons—proof positive that we’re all doing what we can to stay sane right now. Zoë Kravitz snapped an adorable selfie with her dog, but that didn’t stop one Instagram troll from coming in hot with a baffling comment.

The High Fidelity star shared a selfie with her adorable pooch Scout, captioning the shot, “self(ie) quarantine. stay inside kids. one day at a time.” One follower posted a comment asking why Kravitz is “looking so white” in the shot. (Ugh.) The troll wrote, “Am I wrong or she is looking so white in this picture, please don’t tell me you are getting ready [sic] of your melanin, you are so beautiful with your natural color.

And while that’s a totally uncool and unnecessary comment to make about a person’s skin tone, Kravitz clapped back in a truly perfect way.

Kravitz’s response? “Jesus. no girl. This is what happens to some of us mixed kids when we can’t go outside lol.”

Shutting. It. Down.

Of course, the comment feels extra weird given everything that is going on in the world right now. But it’s yet another reminder that criticizing someone’s appearance in the comments section on Instagram is never a good look.

Kravitz is rarely afraid to shut down trolls on social media. She recently responded when someone asked what she’d “done” to her “beautiful natural lips,” implying that she’d had fillers or altered them in some way. She simply wrote, “um. put some lipgloss on them…”

She’s forever showing trolls how it’s done, and we’re always here for it.
