Take in the ‘zenefits’ of Huntsville Yoga Week

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville Yoga Week is in full swing across the city. Yoga instructors with Light on Yoga Fitness are encouraging you to take advantage of the “zenefits” that come with practicing yoga.

Daily yoga practices can promote physical and mental wellness within the body. Research shows that 86% of people who practice yoga have reduced stress levels.

“Yoga targets the parasympathetic nervous system,” said Light on Yoga Fitness Co-Founder and instructor Connor Humphrey. “Along with that you have the option to strengthen, to stretch muscle groups, as well as tune in a little bit and focus more.”

Humphrey says you don’t have to be experienced to participate in this week’s activities. “It’s a great way to bond with the community sit on the mat next to someone who it might also be their first class.”

Free yoga classes will continue through May 12.
