Zendaya's Hair and Makeup for the 2020 Emmys Shut Down the Virtual Red Carpet

It shouldn't surprise us that even in the midst of a pandemic, when Hollywood's biggest events take place from couches across the country, Zendaya has still managed to outshine us all in the fashion and beauty department. And yet here we are. The 24-year-old actor and singer revealed her looks for the 2020 Emmy Awards, and they're her most glamorous appearances to date — even though the awards ceremony took place virtually and doesn't have a traditional red carpet or after-party.

Monday, September 21 kicks off our week-long 2020 Best of Beauty virtual event series! To join us, RSVP here before it’s too late to enjoy tutorials and panels featuring some of the best experts in the industry, such as Justine Marjan, Priscilla Ono, and more.

Zendaya won the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, thanks to her gut-wrenching portrayal of Rue in HBO's hit series Euphoria. Her win had us jumping up and down and screaming with excitement, but still, we couldn't tear our eyes away from her hair and makeup. While presenting an award early in the ceremony, she wore her hair in a slicked-back and side-parted side bun and stuck to classic, neutral makeup that let her bouncy purple skirt do all the talking.

But that wasn't all — between her first appearance and her acceptance speech, Zendaya did an entire hair, makeup, and wardrobe change. Her curled hair was pulled into a loose updo with shaggy curtain bangs, all paired with pitch-black eyeliner applied all over her lash line and waterline. That makeup was the work of Sheika Daley and a slew of Lancôme products — unsurprising, given that Zendaya is the brand's spokesperson.

"Her look is always very natural, so we decided to do a retro pixie vibe to complement her polka dot gown," Daley explains in a press release. "We smoked out the crease of the liner, pulling the look together with the pixie bang and dress."

To create dimension on her eye, Daley began by applying Dual Finish Highlighters in Shimmering Buff and Dazzling Bronze to the eyelids and the Hypnôse 5-Color Eyeshadow Palette in Smokey Chic to the creases. That smoky black eyeliner you see all the way around Zendaya's eyes is Artliner Precision Felt-Tip Liquid Eyeliner in Black Vinyl.

After that, Daley perfect Zendaya's skin with Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H Long Wear Foundation and Ultra Wear Camouflage Concealer. The cherry on top of the whole look was a long-beloved classic: Juicy Tubes Lip Gloss in Shimmer.

While we totally related with the celebs who opted for a more laid-back look for the virtual ceremony, we can't help but appreciate Zendaya's commitment to a full-on glam and outfit change.
