It was a magical night for Zendaya at the 2021 Critics' Choice Awards. The 24-year-old actor was honored with the fifth annual SeeHer Award, which recognized her exceptional ability to "push boundaries, defy stereotypes, and acknowledge the importance of authentic portrayals of women across the entertainment landscape."

The Malcolm & Marie star accepted the award during the latter half of the ceremony, so everyone in attendance — ourselves included — was anxious to see what she'd do with her hair and makeup, especially considering she's known for pushing boundaries in the beauty department, too. Lo and behold, Zendaya appeared on screen looking as ethereal as ever with smoky winged liner, lush lashes, and a matte nude lip, all courtesy of makeup artist Sheika Daley.

On her lids, Daley used Lancôme's Hypnôse 5-Color Eyeshadow Palette in Taupe Craze (specifically shades one and two) for dimension, and then she added the brand's Le Crayon Khôl in Black Coffee to her lash line for definition. She then winged out the eyeliner for a more dramatic effect. Lastly, she applied a few generous coats of the actor's favorite mascara: Lash Idôle.

Daley then defined her arches using Lancôme's Brow Shaping Powdery Pencil in shades Chocolate and Light Brown. To set them, she used the brand's Sourcils Brow Gel Styler in Clear.

Zendaya paired her sultry eye look with a simple, slightly messy bun with some curly tendrils purposely left out to frame her face and give it a slightly laidback feel.

Later in the evening, the beauty chameleon posted a selfie video to her Instagram Stories in which she's wearing a glittery purple eye with black liner and a braided half-up hairstyle — so basically the exact opposite of her acceptance speech aesthetic. This just goes to show how versatile she is when it comes to beauty as well as acting.

This look, as Daley tells Allure, was inspired by a late and great icon close to Zendaya's heart, Cicely Tyson. “We wanted to add a pop of color for fun; we haven’t played with color in a while and wanted to add something bold against the volume and brightness of her skirt,” Daley explains. “We did this look together. She had a color in mind but then we played around with a few options.”

Daley used soft brown and taupe eye shadows alongside Lancôme Le Crayon Khôl in Black Coffee to create dimension on the actor's bare lids, but you'd be surprised by what Daley added next: “We both love using products in different ways than intended,” she says. “For her eyes, we used a soft matte lipstick instead of eye shadow — the L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick in 404 Hot and Cold with Juicy Tubes in Simmer for that glitter and sheen." She topped the whole thing off with Lash Idôle Mascara and a lip look that nearly matches her eyes, thanks to the L'Absolu Rouge Ruby Cream Lipstick in Vintage Ruby and the exact same Juicy Tubes gloss.

Of course, we couldn't be happier for Zendaya. It goes without saying, but this was yet another major milestone for the actor, and we can't wait to see what she has in store for us next — both in the acting and beauty departments.
