Zendaya Wears Vivienne Westwood to Debut Sexy New Song

Zendaya Coleman—known widely by her first name, only—found fame in 2015 for her strong stances against racial appropriation and over-Photoshopped magazine spreads, and for single-handedly shaking up the cast and format of E!’s Fashion Police, as we knew it. But now, she’s ready to let her music make the headlines.

In a new short film by Rankin for Hunger Magazine, the 19-year-old stunner debuts her new Timbaland-produced R&B song “Close Up”—the lead single from her upcoming album. Styled by Hunger’s fashion director Kim Howells, Zendaya gives off major modern-day Aaliyah vibes wearing straight-from-the-runway Vivienne Westwood.

But being a teen superstar with access to the hottest producers and clothes doesn’t come without its downsides—like those people who don’t see her young age as a plus. “Of course I’ve had a problem with people taking me seriously because of my age,” says Zendaya. “People are always going do that because you’re less experienced, you haven’t lived as much. And in a sense it is true that there are certain things that you only learn with time.”

That’s not to say she’s naive. “I think that there are also a lot of things that young people know that older people don’t, and older people will never understand again because they’re in a different section of their lives,” she explains. “I think when you’re young you’re a lot more open-minded, and sometimes you’re a lot more perceptive about what’s going on in the world.”
