Zendaya Shuts Down Engagement Rumors After Posing With Giant Ring On Her Finger

Zendaya was forced to shut down engagement rumors after a since-deleted Instagram picture of herself posing with a giant ring on her finger sent fans into a total frenzy.

The 27-year-old Euphoria star, who is in a relationship with 27-year-old Spider-Man: No Way Home co-star Tom Holland, recently shared a picture of herself posing in a black Golden State Warriors hat and a pearl ring on her finger on her Instagram Story. And even though the ring was technically on her right finger, not the left finger which is the traditional finger for engagement rings, her fans still wondered whether that was her way of telling them that the pair had gotten engaged. Just to clarify: they didn’t!

Zendaya Addresses Engagement Rumors

In a now-expired Instagram Story which was reposted on the @Zendaya_Updated Twitter account, the Dune 2 actress shut down the speculation in a video, saying: “I can’t post anything, you guys. I posted it for my hat. Not for the ring on my right finger, you guys.” She added, while laughing: “Seriously, you think that’s how I would drop the news? What?” We’ll interpret that as Zendaya’s unofficial way of telling us to expect a big, grand, unmistakable announcement if and when the Uncharted actor gets down on one knee.

The Bulgari ambassador also posted another picture on Instagram to show her fans that she really was just taking a picture of her cute outfit, and wasn’t trying to secretly tell them anything. “Let me just put the full body back so y’all can relax lmao,” she wrote as the caption to the uncropped version of the picture, which saw her posing in a grey T-shirt, white skirt, and tan knee-high boots, in addition to the aforementioned Golden State Warriors hat and pearl ring.

Some of the fan reactions to the possibility of Tom and Zendaya being engaged were predictably priceless! "Not y’all thinking that Zendaya was announcing their engagement like this. I mean the ring is hella cute but I'm pretty sure Tom could do better," wrote one fan on Twitter, alongside several crying emojis.

Another fan echoed this after Zendaya confirmed that there was no truth in the rumors, writing: "Y’all know the ring would’ve been bigger and not just this pearl. Thomas would give her A ROCK! stop messing with my sister." A few other fans wondered if the notoriously private couple would even announce their future engagement on social media, with one saying, "And knowing her and Tom, they wouldn’t announce it on social media, and we probably we won’t know it…it will be secret…"
