Zendaya just had her first big appearance of 2024 and reminded everyone that she is, in fact, a fashion icon. The actress attended Schiaparelli’s haute couture show in Paris today, dressed in a black column dress from the fashion house with a dramatic black train attached. She debuted blunt bangs for the occasion with long, slick hair. As always, she knew exactly how to pose in the ensemble to bring it to life:

Zendaya spoke to InStyle in 2021 about how she looks at her high-fashion public appearances.I think about red carpets as having their own characters and narratives,” she explained. “We build a little story for all the looks. It’s like an extension of my acting career in a weird way—you just pop this wig on or whatever it is. Clothes sometimes are very emotional, so I get to embody these different facets—maybe they’re of myself, or maybe they’re alter egos. But I get to meet these different women through clothes.”

She also shared her favorite red carpet looks up until that point. “Joan of Arc [at the 2018 Met Gala],” she started. “The pink Tom Ford breastplate [at the 2020 Critics Choice Awards] was one of my favorites. Nothing could hurt me—I was like a warrior. Oh, and the Moschino butterfly dress [at the Australian premiere of The Greatest Showman in 2017].”

She spoke to ELLE in September about how she feels like she’s entering a period of risk both sartorially and in her acting career. “From a character perspective, I want to find things that will push me,” she said. “As I get older, you know, I can’t play a teenager for the rest of my life.”
