The movie’s official synopsis reads, “Writer/Director Sam Levinson teams up with Zendaya and John David Washington for an achingly romantic drama in which a filmmaker (Washington) and his girlfriend (Zendaya) return home following a celebratory movie premiere as he awaits what's sure to be an imminent critical and financial success. The evening suddenly takes a turn as revelations about their relationships begin to surface, testing the strength of their love.”

After Euphoria season two (which Levinson created and directs), filming had been halted due to the coronavirus pandemic, the filmmaker enlisted several of the same crew members for Malcolm & Marie.

The movie was shot between June 17 and July 2 at the Caterpillar House in Carmel, California. The home was designed with environmentally conscious glass, which allowed for ample ventilation. Per previous reports, the cast and crew followed strict COVID-19 safety protocols that were approved by all the major guilds prior to production.

You can say we have high expectations for this one.
