No matter if you love them together or wish they'd stay apart, there's no mistaking Rue and Jules chemistry on HBO's Euphoria. The undeniable closeness between Zendaya and Hunter Schafer on the hit teen dramedy doesn't just end when the rolling credits appear. They're super close IRL, too. Zendaya opened up about the role she plays in Hunter's life during her co-star's December-January Harper's Bazaar cover story.

Reflecting on when they first met, Zendaya, who Hunter calls Z, said, "Knowing that she was so young and so much of this was new to her my thing was being as much of a big sister as I could." The duo forged a close friendship by checking in with each other and spending time together on set when shooting difficult scenes. "What we do for a living is important, but the friendship we share is more important," Zendaya added.

Hunter's breakout performance as Jules is rooted in some similarities she shares with the character. "There’s a lot of me in Jules," she told Harper's. "I do think blurred lines between an actor and a character make a deeper character."

Touched by Hunter's performance, Zendaya dished on being able to watch Hunter's growth on the show. "I remember watching behind the camera and knowing that something had clicked," the Spider-Man: No Way Home star revealed. "She just took whatever pain she had, and she translated it into such a beautiful performance."

If you're counting down the days until Rue and Jules reunite in season two of Euphoria, you can breathe a sigh of relief. HBO announced that the series will be returning on January 9, and even dropped the trailer.
