Zendaya Made History with Her First Emmy Win and Twitter Is Celebrating

From Harper's BAZAAR

Zendaya just made Emmy history and her fans are ready to celebrate.

The 24-year-old actress became the youngest person ever to take home the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Rue Bennett on HBO's breakout series Euphoria. Before Zendaya, Killing Eve star Jodie Comer held that record, at age 26.

Zendaya accepted her award in an ultra glam, two-piece number by Armani Prive, according to her stylist, Law Roach. The actress wore a polka dot maxi skirt with an embellished cropped halter bodice. She kept her hair in a vintage inspired bouffant and a bold, '60s-esque eyeliner.

The actress appeared visibly moved by her historic win but it didn't stop her from delivering a sweet and sentimental speech where she expressed her hope in the next generation in shaping the world to be a better place.

"I just want to say thank you to the TV academy and to all of the other incredible women in this category. I admire you all so much, this is pretty crazy. I really don't want to cry!" began the actress during her virtual address. "Thank you HBO and A24 for all of your support. Thank you to my family and to my team who's all here. To the incredible cast and crew of Euphoria, I'm so lucky to go to work with you everyday and I'm inspired by everything you do."

Zendaya continued, "I know this is a really weird time to be celebrating but I do just want to say that there is hope in the young people. I know our TV show doesn't always seem like a great example of that, but there is hope in the young people. I just want to say to all my peers out there doing the work in the streets, I see you, I admire you, I thank you and thank you so, so much."
