Zendaya Had A Wardrobe Emergency. Law Roach Stepped In (With A Sparkling Sheer Valentino Suit).

Haven’t we learned by now never to doubt Law Roach? The stylist—and Zendaya’s (apparently eternal) partner in crime—managed to pull off a miracle last night after the Dune actress experienced a wardrobe emergency hours before an appearance at the Bulgari Hotel opening in Rome. The Bulgari gown she’d planned to wear never showed up—how dare it!—so Roach fished out a back-up Valentino suit from the Mary Poppins bag he apparently carries whenever he goes.

As Zendaya shared in an Instagram story, “Fun fact...my dress for tonights @bulgarihotels event got lost in transit, so we got this suit an hour before the event. When in doubt...a @maisonvalentino suit :) @luxurylaw”

The final ensemble was, naturally, as pristine as anything the duo have put together in their years-spanning relationship: Zendaya paired her sleek red-brown bob with a black Valentino suit adorned with tiny sparkling crystals, under which she wore a sheer mesh top. A pair of cascading diamond earrings certainly didn’t hurt, either.

The appearance—during which Zendaya posed with fellow actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas—comes after Roach’s apparent retirement in March, during which the stylist announced, “My cup is empty…the politics, the lies, and false narratives finally got me! You win…I’m out.” He later confirmed to The Cut that “I am definitely, 100,000 percent retiring” not from fashion altogether but from celebrity styling. As of now, however, he’s still styling Zendaya.

As he told The Cut in March, “People will say, ‘Oh, you not gonna leave Zendaya.’ But I don’t have to style Zendaya to be a part of her team and her creativity team, right? So maybe if I choose, you know, not to be her stylist, I can still be her creative director and I can still, you know, manage a stylist or however I choose to do it. I haven’t made a decision. She’s giving me the grace to be able to make that decision because we really have a kinship. Like, you know, we’ve grown up together. And that’s all I ever asked, was for people who I worked so hard for to just give me grace when I need it.”
