Zendaya Dedicated Her PCAs 2019 Win to Euphoria Fans

“'Euphoria’ and Rue … is one of the most beautiful things that’s ever happened for me.”

Congrats, Zendaya! The actor won the Best Drama TV Star and Best Female Movie Star awards at the People's Choice Awards and took a moment to recognize her smash hit HBO show,Euphoria, and the fans who made it such a resounding success.

Z, clad in a cutout black dress, Louboutin heels, a topknot, and a classic red lip, dedicated her award to Euphoria viewers who may have seen themselves in one of its characters. "Euphoria and Rue, I think, is one of the most beautiful things that’s ever happened for me,” she said in her acceptance speech. “Thank you to all of you for receiving it with open hearts. And to anyone who has felt seen by our show, on behalf of the cast and crew and everyone, that’s all we really ever wanted. So thank you for allowing us to do that.”

Since it premiered last summer, Euphoria has made stars of its cast, brought glitter makeup back into fashion, and sparked conversations around what life is really like for high schoolers today. The show, which is at times both dreamy and gritty, deals with drug addiction, sexuality, abuse, and self-esteem — all very real issues for young people today — and presents them realistically. Zendaya, who plays narrator and lead character Rue, and her castmates have also become fast friends, reuniting for NYFW and on the red carpet. The show has been picked up for a second season, though a premiere date has yet to be announced.

Zendaya also took home an award for her work in Spider-Man: Far From Home, where she competed against Sophie Turner in Dark Phoenix and Millie Bobby Brown in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, among others. (It was a big year for action movies!) We're thrilled for Z, and her win makes us even more excited for the return of Euphoria, Rue, Jules, and the rest of the crew. HBO, if you're reading this, we're more than ready for season two.
