Ok, I'm just gonna say what we're all thinking: not a soul alive can match Zendaya when it comes to quarantine cover shoots. Between her Elle cover, ESSENCE cover, GQ cover, and now her W Magazine cover, museums should be resurrected in Zendaya's honor. These photos are undeniably works of art.

Channeling the energy of a 1950s movie star, Z did a romantic, Old Hollywood shoot alongside her Malcom & Marie co-star, John David Washington. Always down for a hair change, the actress went honey blonde, giving deja vu to anyone who saw her Cinderella-inspired look from the 2019 Met Gala.

In each shot, the pair can be seen in "domestic bliss," lounging around a luxury estate, their retro ensembles accented with diamonds and pearls. The general air of extravagance is a concept Zendaya came up with herself, with help from her stylist Law Roach. In the end, they referenced vintage photos of white celebrities, creating their own versions, with Zendaya and John as the stars.

"That's the mood I want. That life, but reimagined for now, with the look of then," Zendaya said. "Two Black actors in this setting–seems like rewriting history in an elegant manner, like kind of an Old Hollywood that we wished existed. It's almost like righting a wrong."

According to Law, goal of the shoot is to normalize and romanticize Black affluence. "The visuals matter," he explained. "The way change happens is when people can see wealth and grandeur in a way that they are not used to seeing it."
