'Tis the season for lots of glitz.
There are two typical attitudes you can have toward the colder weather and what it means for getting dressed. The first is to view it as a signal to let your wardrobe go dark: Walking any street in the middle of winter, you're bound to find yourself in a sea of coats in shades of navy, black and gray. But the second attitude is to see the onset of colder weather as an announcement that holidays — and therefore holiday dressing — are on their way. And that means going the opposite of bland, opting instead for rich colors, luxe details and a fair bit of sparkle.
For this latter option, you need look no further than actress and fashion muse Zazie Beetz for inspiration. On Sunday, Beetz attended the TrevorLive Los Angeles Gala in Beverly Hills, California, dressed to the nines in a gold Rodarte gown made of leather. With its dramatic ruffled shoulders and metallic glint, the dress made enough of a statement on its own without much in the way of accessories, so Beetz paired it with simple gold jewelry (mid-size hoops, a delicate necklace and slender bangles) and called it a day. Hair piled atop her head and fresh-looking makeup let Beetz's glowy complexion take center stage. Consider this all the proof you need that winter wardrobes don't have to be boring.
