No one truly knows how difficult love is when you’re a pop star or a supermodel, unless you are a pop star or a supermodel. For Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid, it appeared to be too burdensome to bear, as the genetically blessed couple have officially parted ways.
After The Sun reported on Tuesday that the couple had split after drifting apart, Malik confirmed the news in a Twitter statement:
As in most celebrity breakups, the proof is really in the Instagrams. Malik has spent the last couple of days posting Sad Boy selfies, including a shirtless selfie on Tuesday where he wrote, “When Life throws you lemons, catch em so they don’t hit you in the fucking face.”
Perhaps he’s referring to the sting of regret he’s now feeling ABOUT the tattoo he recently got of Hadid’s eyeballs on his chest. Malik, who covered up a tattoo of his ex-fiancée Perrie Edwards’s name on his arm, got the chest tattoo in January 2018. As in two months ago. Love is blind, regardless of how many eyes you etch onto your body.
As any millennial might, Malik has also unfollowed Hadid, as well as her mother, Yolanda, on Instagram (though photos of him with both women remain). Both Hadids still follow him, which is cute.
Dearest Zayn, there will always be other pop stars and supermodels for you to date. But maybe it’s time to start limiting your tattoos to inspirational quotes and jungle animals. You know, keep it light.

The first electric vehicle I ever drove was a Tesla Roadster in 2011. It was with great anticipation that I slid behind the wheel of the 2025 Acura ZDX Type S. Sure, it's a midsize SUV, but it wears the Type S moniker, a name reserved only for the most fun-to-drive in the Acura stable. On launch, the ZDX will be available in A-Spec and Type S trims -- both of which come equipped with a 102 kWh battery.
