Zayn Malik Delights Fans by Singing One Direction Hit on Instagram

One Direction fans got a great surprise from Zayn Malik on social media on Aug. 15.

The ex-member of the boy band that originally formed on The X Factor sang a little of One Direction's hit song "Night Changes" from the album Four, which came out in late 2014.

Malik, who doesn't post a lot on social media, shared a clip of himself singing 30 seconds of the song in a black-and-white video on Instagram.

With over 18 million likes (and counting), many fans—new and old—were thrilled to hear Malik sing a bit of the popular song, taking to social media to express their excitement.

"WE GOT ZAYN MALIK SINGING NIGHT CHANGES AND YOU AND I 2022!!! THIS IS A GLITCH IN THE MATRIX," one fan wrote.

Another questioned: "is this zayn telling us he wants a one direction reunion??"

"Night Changes" was one of the lead singles on the One Direction album Four, which Malik sang alongside fellow members Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson.

The song went on to earn platinum status, selling over one million units, according to The Recording Industry Association of America.

Four was the last album Malik made with One Direction before his departure from the group in early 2015.

In a message to fans around the world, Malik announced he was leaving, saying, "My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band."

He continued: "I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world."

Now, many years later, fans are hoping this is a sign that Malik is considering a One Direction reunion.
