Zac Efron, Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce

Zac Efron is finally breaking his silence on internet comparisons that have surfaced regarding Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's love story being the real-life version of his High School Musical relationship.

The Disney Channel alum opened up about how he really feels about Swift and Kelce reminding social media users of his TV movie character, Troy Bolton, and his girlfriend, Vanessa Hudgens' Gabriella Montez, admitting that he's "so happy" for the couple.

Prior to being interviewed by E! News this month while promoting his new Prime Video film Ricky Stanicky, the actor had actually never heard of the parallels between the two, but after being clued in, agreed that Kelce being an athlete like his character, and Swift being a singer, as was Montez, made so much sense as to why people may connect the two.

"Wow, I didn't think about that," he said, adding, "That's really cool. Shout out to all the High School Musical fans."

And although he may not have gotten wind of the Disney Channel movie comparisons, there's no way he could have not heard about the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and "Lavender Haze" songstress' romance (seriously, unless you've been living under a rock, you can't miss the chatter).

"I love the whole Travis, Taylor thing. Man, I'm so happy for them," he offered of his opinion on the relationship. "They're two of the best people in the world. How can you not be stoked?"

While The Greatest Showman star had a bit more to say about the pro athlete and international pop star's love, Hudgens previously chimed in with her own opinion, simply calling the comparisons "hilarious."

If you know anything about the cult Disney Channel fan-favorite TV movie, you know that Troy and Gabriella were the popular "it" couple of the school, with the former being the star of the basketball team, and the latter being a more reserved, super smart student. They eventually end up connecting due to their shared love of singing, dancing, and performing on stage.

Ironically, the two even turned their on-screen love into a real life relationship, dating from 2005 to 2010 before going their separate ways. (For now, Efron is reportedly single, while Hudgens recently tied the knot with MLB player Cole Tucker.)

"The chiefs game and the golden globes being within hours of each other reminds me when Troy and Gabriella had the basketball game and the academic decathlon at the same time as the audition for the school musical," one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter), while another even added screenshot images of the two couples side-by-side, writing, "I think I've seen this film before."

As for Kelce and Swift, the two lovebirds are still going strong, with the former recently flying out to Australia to support his girlfriend during the international leg of her Eras Tour.
