While the U.S. continues to set new records for coronavirus cases, Zac Efron has apparently fled to Australia. Per The Daily Mail, photos of Efron in Byron Bay, where he is reportedly hanging out with Chris Hemsworth and Australian musician and The Whitlams frontman, Tim Freedman. Per The Daily Telegraph, Efron is also spending time with his manager, Jason Barrett.

Hemsworth owns what the Mail says is a $20 million mansion in Byron Bay with his wife, Elsa Pataky, with whom he shares three children. Efron is reportedly looking into buying the home he is currently renting in the area.

This report from the Mail confirms weeks of reported sightings of Efron in New South Wales (NSW). This week, he was spotted socializing with local woman Vanessa Valladares at the Byron Bay General Store café.

He was photographed hugging Valladares and giving her a kiss on the cheek after they shared a drink. This appears to just be a platonic connection; Efron is dating 27-year-old Halston Sage. The COVID-19 pandemic pushed back the actor's filming plans, so he's been free to take this time for himself.

Efron clearly has a connection to Australia. At the end of last year, he was flown to medical care in Australia from Papua New Guinea after he contracted a bacterial infection while filming his reality series ironically called Killing Zac Efron.

"Very thankful to everyone who has reached out," he wrote on Instagram following this news. "I did get sick in Papua New Guinea but I bounced back quick and finished an amazing 3 weeks in P.N.G. I'm home for the holidays with my friends and family. Thanks for all the love and concern, see you in 2020!"
