YouTuber Joe Sugg doesn't expect 'Strictly' fans to recognise him
He may have over eight million YouTube subscribers and a total of 25 million social media followers, but many Strictly fans were still left baffled when vlogger Joe Sugg was named as one of this year’s 15 Strictly Come Dancing contestants.
However, the 26-year-old YouTube sensation said he’s prepared for this reaction, and gets that many telly viewers won’t know him by name – yet.
“I kind of expected the majority of people not to have a clue who I am which is fine.
Hopefully when it starts they’ll get to know me and think I’m alright,” Sugg explained.
He is the brother of fellow YouTube star Zoella, who is two years his senior and boasts over 12 million YouTube subscribers.
With BBC bosses clearly banking on Sugg appealing to younger viewers, he was seen live vlogging via his mobile phone during Monday’s Strictly Come Dancing red carpet event.
Strutting his stuff down the red carpet with fellow contestant Katie Piper, we have yet to get a glimpse of his dancing abilities.
However, he revealed in one of his YouTube videos that his dancing skills aren’t the best and said, “I’m not a dancer. I probably dance like a tree. Like a plank of wood!” Watch this space…
