Youtuber Competes In Grueling Arkansas Cross Country Race

For many riders, a chill pedal through the woods enjoying the scenery is all they want out of the sport.

That is not enough for everyone though. Watch YouTuber Jacob Evans of Ten 96 Cycling take on the Grueling Ouachita Challenge, a 60-mile mountain bike race In Arkansas.

The Ouachita Challenge is a 100-kilometer race through western Arkansas. Though it is a mountain bike race, there are extended road and gravel sections. Truly hardo riders have the option to do the double header option and race both their gravel bikes and mountain bikes.

As you can see, these 60 miles are not smooth. Much of the course traversed over rocks and roots. Cruelly, the course also includes extended gravel road sections, so a full suspension bike to soften the trails is a tradeoff for efficiency.

Jacob Evans is a cyclist and YouTuber from Texas. He is no slouch and ended the day in the top 10 at Ouachita. Though he was credited with third, Jacob said that the people who did the doubleheader with the gravel race and finished ahead of him were not included in the results.

There is nothing more energy-sapping than a rough climb. You know the going is tough when a cyclist is putting out 160 beats per minute to travel 4 miles per hour. Finishing a race on a course like that for over 60 miles is quite the feat.
