You're Definitely Not Washing Your Makeup Brushes Enough

From Woman's Day

If you generally avoid the dreaded task of cleaning your makeup brushes, you're not alone. We hate to break it to you, though: If you're not cleaning your brushes, that means you're basically rubbing bacteria all over your face every day. Yuck!

To prevent infections, breakouts, and cold sores you need to be washing your brushes regularly. In an interview with Allure, makeup artist Bobbi Brown revealed the cold hard truth: Concealer and foundation brushes must be washed at least once a week and brushes used around your eyes should be cleaned at least twice a month. The rest can be washed once a month.

If you're already starting to think of excuses to avoid listening to Bobbi, the StylPro Makeup Brush Cleaner and Drier by Stylfile is here to change your beauty routine forever. While washing and drying your brushes can be time-consuming, this invention by The Apprentice's Tom Pellerau accomplishes both in just seconds.

Here's how it works:

The device comes with a bowl that you first fill with cleanser and silicone holders for your dirty brushes. Dip your brushes into the bowl and it will spin around, cleaning them of oil and bacteria. To air dry the brush, simply lift it above the liquid while the bowl is still spinning.

The results pretty much speak for themselves:

While the StylPro ($56.45) is currently only available in the UK, Stylfile is hoping to start shipping to the US as soon as possible. Sign up to be notified when the StylPro Makeup Brush Cleaner and Drier is available near you here.
