During season 2 of Love Is Blind, Danielle Ruhl and Nick Thompson managed to form a quick connection without seeing each other face-to-face. The two were the first couple to get engaged, and it looked like everything was going great between them as they made their way to the altar.

Now that Love Is Blind Season 3 is out, viewers are wondering how the couples from the show’s previous seasons are doing now that they’ve left the pods behind and are trying to make it work in the real world.

With that, it’s only natural to wonder if Nick and Danielle were able to create a reality TV romance that actually lasted.

Unfortunately, a few days after Iyanna McNeely And Jarrette Jones announced they were getting a divorce, news broke that season two's other married couple were also separating. On August 21, TMZ revealed that Danielle had filed for divorce from Nick.

And recently, amid their ongoing divorce, the exes have shared some of their break-up beef with the public through Instagram stories, and TBH, it’s pretty intense.

Here’s what you need to know.

What happened with Danielle and Nick on Love Is Blind?

These two hit it off pretty much from the start. In fact, they were so in sync that they got engaged during episode one.

But things weren’t seamless from there. Danielle got food poisoning in Mexico and Nick wasn’t exactly the most supportive fiancé, totally ditching her to meet up with the rest of the cast. Danielle wasn’t exactly impressed and the two ended up having a blowup fight. During it, Danielle admitted that she tends to get jealous and insecure in relationships.

But despite their many ups and downs, Danielle and Nick did eventually say "I do." "This is the last thing I thought would happen. It happened," Danielle said as they exchanged vows. "We love each other and we care more about each other than we could ever express to anyone."

"I have no question whatsoever that you are the person I'm supposed to be with," Nick added. "I'm glad that I found you, and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life being better together."

So, are Danielle and Nick still together?

Nope. After getting married in June 2o21, Danielle filed for divorce from Nick on August 2022, at Cook County Circuit Court in Illinois, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.

Before the split, the pair talked candidly about couples therapy. “I think the biggest challenge for us was losing the structure of the show,” Nick shared with Us Weekly. “We quickly realized like, ‘Hey, two months ago, we weren’t married, we were single. Since then, we’ve met and married, we have friends, we have family, everybody—some people know, some people don’t.’

"And so, it’s like, ‘How do you navigate these waters and how do you go from doing whatever you want two months ago to, like, being part of a family?’”

“The couple therapist literally was like, ‘Danielle, you speak French. He speaks German. And when you’re talking to each other, it doesn’t translate. And it takes months, years sometimes, to be able to actually communicate with each other,’” Danielle explained.

Why did they split?

According to Nick, there wasn’t “a big catastrophic event” that ended it all. Instead, he explained that he “wasn’t feeling like I was getting the partnership I needed to be successful and to kind of move forward with the relationship," he told Us Weekly.

"As we moved forward and we started integrating our lives together, you start to see sort of some cracks that you don’t see [right away] based on the way that we met," he said about life after Love Is Blind. "You go from being completely scheduled to kind of being out in the world to fend for yourself."

They’re not on speaking terms.

The ex-couple is not in a good place right now. "For my own mental health and healing, I had to create a boundary with her that I’m not engaging anymore," Nick told Us Weekly.

Danielle attributed their breakup to “personal compatibility issues," per ET Online.

"We were very amicable and civil at first, and that's why people were kind of confused with some of the back-and-forth that happened, but going through the divorce process added even more stress, and it's tough on both of us, I'm sure,” Danielle said in a since-deleted Instagram video, per ET.

Nick added in a September statement that he is heartbroken about the divorce. But, “I know in my heart that I did the best I could and gave it everything I had,” he said, per ET Online.

They’ve aired their beef publicly.

On Oct. 1, Nick posted an Instagram Story poll, asking his followers which of his previous Love Is Blind cast members would be the first to die in a Scream-like scenario. Some took this as evidence that he planned to publicly gossip about his ex and their friends.

Many fans also read this as a subtweet about Danielle, per Us Weekly.

Danielle responded on social media. “The only reason I reposted that [on my Story] is because I was told by one of our mutual friends that Nick was planning on doing an Instagram Live to talk sh*t about me and all the other girls, like Natalie [Lee] and Iyanna [McNeely],” she said in an Instagram story.

“Do you want me to do the same thing?” she rhetorically asked. “I don’t want this to be some sort of bloodbath.”

Danielle has been leaning on her 'LIB' castmates for support.

The season two cast is bonded for life, clearly. In August, before news of their breakups hit, Danielle posted an Instagram photo dump with her season two besties Iyanna, Natalie Lee, and Deepti Vempati.

Even if the love doesn't last between the couples, at least the strong friendship bonds remain!
