"Younger" Is Finally Returning This Month

Fans of love triangles, ambitious women, and book world drama will be thrilled to hear that TV Land's hit show Younger will be returning for a seventh and final season, at last on April 15. The sixth season aired in 2019, and was delayed in its return due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Younger stars Sutton Foster as Liza Miller, a woman in her 40s who lies about her age in order to re-enter the competitive world of publishing. Pretending to be 26, Liza nabs a job at a fictional publishing house called Empirical. There, she meets Kelsey (Hilary Duff), and star editor, Diana (Miriam Shor), a publicity maven and a tough boss.

Liza's professional and personal life are intertwined, especially now that she's dating her former boss, Charles (Peter Hermann, who is married to SVU's Mariska Hargitay in real life). In fact, Charles popped the question in the season 6 finale. Whether Liza's over her ex, Josh (Nico Tortorella), is up for debate.

Younger's seventh season makes it the longest running original series in TV Land history. “Season after season, Younger has continued to reach new heights and build an incredibly loyal fan base,” Keith Cox, president of development and production at Paramount Network and TV Land, said in a statement accompanying news of the show's renewal. “We love this talented and amazing cast and can’t wait to see what Darren [Star] has in store for Season 7.”

Well, neither can we.

Season 7 of Younger will premiere in April 2021.

We have a release date! We have a release date! Younger will return for a 12-episode season on Thursday, April 15. The first four episodes of the new season will premiere on Paramount+ and Hulu that day, with subsequent episodes premiering each Thursday.

Younger will be streaming on Paramount+ and on Hulu.

The rollout of Younger's seventh season is a bit unusual. Past seasons of Younger aired on TV Land. This season, however, will premiere early on Paramount+ (the new version of CBS All Access) and Hulu. Later on this year, at an unannounced date, the season will air on TV Land.

Translation? If you can't wait to find out how Liza's story ends, you'll need to subscribe to another streaming service. Plans for Paramount+ start at $5.99/month.

Though the 7th season will be its last, you may see familiar faces in the show's spinoff, starring Hilary Duff.

Younger may be ending, but the Younger TV universe will continue. The show's creator, Darren Star, told TV Line that a spin-off project will be centered on Hilary Duff's character Kelsey Peters, a talented editor who rose to be Millennial's publisher at the age of 26.

In an interview with Oprah Daily, Duff explained what she loves about her character. "She has this unapologetic boldness that I really envy and I really like. She works hard and plays hard. Her clothes are a little too tight and her hair's maybe a little too blonde, but she's a boss, and she's smart," Duff said.

The trailer indicates trouble in Liza and Charles's paradise.

As you Younger fans will recall, Charles asked Liza to marry him at Diana's wedding in the season six finale. Liza, however, did not give him an answer. The official season 7 trailer indicates that Liza is still torn.

If we had to guess, the show's central love triangle will rev up again. She's settled down with Charles—but she's secretly fixated on Josh. "I don't think [Liza and Josh] can let each other go," Foster said in an interview with TV Guide. "There's something, they have a connection that runs deep. She loves Charles and is in a relationship with him, but she will always love Josh."

Other tidbits to look forward to? Liza goes surfing with a tanned Australian; Maggie seems to get a love interest; and Kelsey has a career defining chapter.

Younger's cast will look a little bit different.

Expect to see most of the usual suspects in season 7 of Younger: Sutton Foster, Debi Mazar, Hilary Duff, Peter Hermann, Nico Tortorella, and even Phoebe Dynevor, fresh off of Bridgerton.

However, scheduling difficulties caused by the coronavirus pandemic meant that Shor, who plays Diana, and Davis, who plays Zane, won't be season regulars, Star told TV Line. We'll sorely miss Diana's quips and statement jewelry.

For now, catch up on season 6 of Younger.

Come season 6 of Younger, Liza is no longer pretending to be 26. However, that doesn't mean her life isn't any less dramatic. In Younger's sixth season, Liza is caught between her boyfriend, Charles, and her loyalty to her friend, Kelsey. Stream the series to make sure you're all set for season 7's April 15 premiere.
