Young Thug Brings the High Fashion Harness to The Tonight Show
Young Thug’s outfits are usually positively brimming with different colors and textures—just take the time he layered multiple pearl necklaces over a yellow turtleneck and a pair of plaid pants as a prototypical case in point. For his performance on The Tonight Show last night, though, Thugger went in a different direction, keeping his color palette relatively simple with an all-white ’fit.
Thug and fellow rapper Gunna performed their latest song, “Hot,” which is from Young Thug’s recently released album So Much Fun. In a cameo appearance, Wheezy appeared first, back to the camera, acting as the maestro to the Temple University Diamond Marching Band that accompanied them, before Thug appeared through the mounting fog around halfway through.
Thug might have kept things monochromatic, but he still went all-in when it came to his accessories: here, he doubled down on the menswear harness trend, wearing one from Bond Hardware across his chest, along with a tactical belt from the very same brand with smaller pouches across his waist, before finishing the outfit off with his signature layered chains around his neck, naturally. Plus, his take on the fashion harness looks much more practical than most, with the waist piece in particular very much approximating a utility belt—leave it to Thug to find a fresh way to revive an overworked trend.
