Leg amputations involve the surgical removal of all or part of a leg due to various reasons such as injury, infection, or medical conditions like diabetes or peripheral artery disease. They are typically performed as a last resort to improve a person's quality of life and mobility. Prosthetic limbs can be used to restore functionality, enabling individuals to regain independence and participate in daily activities. Rehabilitation and emotional support are crucial during the adjustment process.
