YORK, Pa. (WHTM) — York’s Continental Square, one of the Midstate’s most historic sites, looks a lot better now than it did just a few hours ago.

Folks from York’s Rotary Club installed new shrubs and perennials this morning, as part of part of a big beautification project.

They originally planned to do it a week ago – as a service project on the anniversary of the assassination of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Weather delayed that effort until Thursday.

A week isn’t a long time to wait in a place with so much history.

“This is where the Continental Congress first met, so we are planting where people such as John Adams and John Hancock, Marquis de Lafayette have all walked where we are standing today. So it really connects us to the historic heart of York,” Aaron Jacobs, president of the rotary club said.
