The breakout Netflix docuseries, How to Become a Cult Leader, gives a cheeky look at six of the most notorious cults of all time. While it's a heavy topic, the series manages to inject a good bit of humor into the episodes, which explore groups created by leaders like Charles Manson and Jaime Gomez, and groups like Heaven’s Gate, Buddhafield, and the Unification Church.

As Netflix points out, the series “wryly” breaks down the stories and people behind these cults thanks to the help of one very special narrator. This narrator's deep voice manages to convey gravitas necessary for the topic, while also being a little funny as he gives viewers tongue-in-cheek "tips" on how to become a cult leader.

But who is the narrator of How To Become a Cult Leader and what else has he been featured in? The answer might surprise you…

Who is the narrator in 'How To Become a Cult Leader'?

The narrator... drum roll please... is actor Peter Dinklage. The 54-year-old is a huge name in Hollywood and has appeared in a ton of other movies and shows you’ve seen (more on that in a sec). He’s also won four Emmy Awards and been nominated for nine. So, long story short, Peter is kind of a big deal.

He also narrated the other docuseries.

How To Become a Cult Leader is a new docuseries, but it was created by the people behind How To Become A Tyrant, which came out in 2021, per IMDB.

As its name implies, the first doc dove into the personalities of Saddam Hussein, Joseph Stalin, and Adolf Hitler, among others. Peter similarly lead viewers through the docuseries, providing historical analysis and insights for viewers. The Hollywood Reporter called his voiceover work “invaluable” to the show.

Clearly, it was so invaluable that they signed him on for another full series!

He’s been in a lot of other stuff, too.

Odds are you would recognize Peter, even if you don’t know his name. He won all four of his Emmys for his role as Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones, for starters, and stayed on the series for its entire run, even as other stars were killed off. Peter has also starred in blockbuster films like Elf, Underdog, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Avengers: Infinity War, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, and Cyrano.

Oh, and he has a ton of upcoming projects, according to IMDB, so you can expect to see—and hear—more from him soon.

You can hear him (and check out his voiceover work) for yourself, though, on How To Become A Cult Leader, streaming now on Netflix.
