This year's Met Gala theme is honoring the late legendary designer, Karl Lagerfeld, but his iconic white Burmese cat, Choupette, is also getting some well-earned love.
Jared Leto (who will reportedly play Lagerfeld in an upcoming biopic) just walked the 2023 Met Gala stairs while dressed in a life-size cat costume that pays homage to Choupette.
The furry look seemed to confuse some spectators—that is, until Leto removed the large cat head to reveal his identity.
Leto was later seen embracing fellow A-list guests on the Metropolitan Museum of Art's carpeted steps. Below, see his run-ins with Anne Hathaway, Salma Hayek, and Lizzo.
Fear not, fashion lovers—the feline look wasn't the only stunt up Leto's sleeve. He later fully removed the costume to reveal yet another outfit, this time a much tamer (and arguably much more fashionable) all-black ensemble comprised of a bedazzled cape, semi-sheer blouse, pleated skirt, and black trousers.
The House of Gucci actor wasn't the only star who took up some feline inspiration during fashion's biggest night.
Doja Cat fittingly also arrived at the event channeling Choupette. She wore a hooded Oscar de la Renta gown, whcih included cat ears on the hood, silver sequins, a backless feature, and a mermaid silhouette that extended into a white feathered train. Over 5,000 hours of work went into creating the dazzling piece, which includes 350,000 silver and white bugle beads. She finished the look off with a diamond headpiece worn underneath the hood and a delicate diamond chain arm cuff.
