It seems Blake Lively is sidestepping the Hollywood tradition of a celebrity designer-perfected home and is instead opting to handle decorating her real estate portfolio herself. The actress recently posted some shots on Instagram and captioned it, "Yes, I low key moonlight as an interior designer but please don’t tell [because] I definitely don’t want the world to know that I have a hidden talent which I require external validation on."

Turns out, her New York home isn't her first design project: In 2018, Lively posted a since-deleted Instagram of her surrounded by mood boards and fabric swatches. "I design my friends homes. For free," she cheekily wrote. "Of all the bad decisions I’ve made, this may be the most fun."

Whether you have a small studio apartment or sprawling suburban space, decorating a home to reflect your unique design perspective is an undertaking—one that requires time, attention to detail, and bountiful creativity. Not only do we give Lively major design kudos for taking on her home solo, but we're also here for her refined-yet-rustic style. (Less Serena van der Woodsen, more Dan Humphrey.) Lively might've leaned into her point of view, but that doesn't mean you can't copy a few ideas when crafting your own personal space. Read on for tips and tricks to get the look at home.
