For running, biking, and swimming, this is the perfect watch—even if you're not doing all three in a row. Timex teamed up with the Ironman race back in the early 90s and they've mastered the training watch through rigorous field testing. We wouldn't exactly call the field testing we did "rigorous," but it worked like a charm on the run, at the gym, and in the pool. The seamless and smooth band construction is extra comfortable.

If you are looking to get into automatic watches for the first time, a good place to start is the Seiko 5 Sports line. Pilot watches are meant to be big, with bold faces and enormous crowns. Aplina checked all the boxes with the Startimer. We actually felt that it wore smaller than the 44mm case suggests because the proportions are so balanced. This is an ideal work-and-play watch, especially for men with larger wrists.

Captain Cook

The Captain Cook really stood out because of how it transcends genres. Rado built it to be a professional grade dive watch and yet it just looks so stylish that it also comes off as a dress watch. We found it turned heads in meetings, got compliments at the bar, and never left our wrist on island vacations.

Formula 1 Chronograph

We're not entirely sure when F1 racing became a thing on this side of the Atlantic but we're sure happy it did. Almost as thrilling as the races are the timepieces that have come out of TAG Heuer's long time partnership with F1. This quartz powered chronograph gave us the feeling of having a powerful machine on our wrist. Even if we were just timing our french press instead of race laps.

De Ville

Wearing an Omega De Ville with a great fitting suit was the closest we ever felt to feeling like Don Draper. If you're looking for a work and formal watch on a budget, Fossil has you covered with The Minimalist. It wears a little big with a 44mm case, but the clean design doesn't jump out at you. It is ultra-thin and felt very light on the wrist for that size. Definitely a comfortable all-day, every-day timepiece.

Collection Black Dial Two-Tone

Maybe the two-tone look isn't for everyone, but with this particular Movado it really grew on us. The lone gold 12:00 marker and dagger hands floating on a black background balance out the flashier case and bracelet. The other standout feature is how thin and light this watch feels, thanks to the quartz movement. It wears more like a bracelet.

Maestro

While Raymond Weil doesn't exactly make cheap watches, they do give the appearance of far more expensive high end watches. You can pull off that top end luxury look to the untrained eye with this bad boy. Which made it even more fun to wear with just a t-shirt in jeans for that "stealth wealth" swagger.

Superocean 44mm

This watch is an absolute beast and we love it. The heft alone lets you know that the Superocean can take a beating at the bottom of the sea and come up looking good enough for a cocktail party, like some international super spy.
