Yeohlee RTW Spring 2023

Yeohlee Teng’s spring collection was all about cut and structures, as well as “elements of a play on color values,” with color-blocked fashions (with hues pulled from her archive) and playful fauna and floral jungle prints. A casual undercurrent was also represented through the lineup, which included an expanded assortment of genderless styles.

“We did a sample sale in the summer and had as many male as female customers. It was really fun and taught me that if the clothes fit well and look good, it doesn’t matter [who buys it],” Teng said.

The look: Yeohlee’s signature takes on mathematical, geometric details designed to amplify each silhouette.

Quote of note: “The core of the collection hinges on what you can wear and for how long you can wear it. That, at least to Yeohlee, is a true meaning of sustainability. Within the collection of durability, there is also a playful aspect to some of the pieces and a small dose of geometry,” the designer, echoing her collection notes, said during an appointment.

Key pieces: A color-blocked smart gab dress; a polyester nylon reversible printed vest with “winged” riding pants; an elypse crew denim crescent skirt; menswear-inspired versatile jackets and lounge-y blazers; a polyester nylon khaki and black tie-front sarong; a minimalist open loop tank with black and cream V skirt.

The takeaway: “I think that you can tell a story with 12 looks, lots of people see the reasons to overdo it but I think that for your appetite, sometimes enough is enough,” Yeohlee said of her concise, wearable lineup.
