The news around the COVID-19 outbreak is constantly changing, but information about food safety and how to keep yourself healthy is crucial right now. Here is a comprehensive list on the foods you should be stocking up on during this period of social distancing, as well as information about your local grocery stores’ changing hours, an explanation of “no-contact delivery,” and a guide on how to help your community and its businesses throughout closures.

As the effects of the global COVID-19 outbreak continue to ravage the food industry, many are obviously looking for ways to support their favorite restaurants and other spots. Buying gift cards is obviously a great step, as is ordering take-out, but Yelp and GoFundMe just teamed up to offer another quick and easy way to help.

Yelp has started to add donation buttons to eligible business pages. The buttons will automatically appear on Yelp pages for eligible restaurants, nightlife, beauty and fitness & active life businesses. When you click the button, you'll be automatically be directed to the GoFundMe page for that business where you can donate.

This means that while browsing around for what to eat (come on, we all do it!) you can drop a few donations to some businesses you love. Eligibility requirements include U.S. organizations with less than five locations, which can really make a difference for small businesses. The buttons will begin appearing on an initial set of eligible businesses in the metropolitan areas of Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego today and will be added to eligible businesses nationwide over the next few days.

In addition to the buttons, The Yelp Foundation and GoFundMe have pledged to match up to $1 million in donations, with a $500 match for the first 2,000 eligible businesses that claim their fundraising page on GoFundMe and raise $500. Other companies are expected to contribute to the matching fund over the next week as well.
