It’s a special week for Yellowstone star Kevin Costner—the actor turned 68 on January 18, and he used the occasion to share a refreshing message about aging with his fans. In short, he wants to remind everyone that it’s not all that bad.

“Don’t believe what they say about getting older,” he captioned a photo of him donning a cowboy hat and a smile. “Each passing year is a gift, and it gets better and better with time. Thank you for the birthday wishes.”

The official Yellowstone Instagram account also gave Costner a birthday shoutout, writing: “Wishing @kevincostnermodernwest a very happy birthday!”

The loving comments from friends and fans poured in on both posts. “This caption! Have a great day KC 🥳,” one person commented. “Like fine wine! 🍷🥳♥️” another added. “That’s right! Better & better!” someone else wrote.

Attending the recent Golden Globes would’ve been the ideal way for Costner to kick off a week of celebration, but unfortunately, California rain and floods trapped him and his wife Christine Baumgartner in the Santa Barbara area. He apologized to fans in a video message on Instagram.

“I’m so sorry to everyone who might have been tuning in to watch the Golden Globes. We found ourselves on the wrong side of town and couldn’t get back last night. We couldn’t even get back to the house this morning in time with the freeways closed,” he said. “Nobody’s sadder than us that we can’t be there at the Golden Globes. Chris had a beautiful dress. I was looking forward to walking down the red carpet with her.”

Thankfully, his absence didn’t keep him from taking home an award. He ended up winning his first Globe for Yellowstone: Best Actor in a Drama Series. In a follow-up post, he thanked Hollywood and fans for the recognition.

“I share this recognition with my castmates, the producers, and our incredible crew,” he wrote. “Most of all, thank you to our show’s fans, who love Yellowstone Ranch as if it were their own.”

Is there really a better birthday gift than that? Congratulations and happy birthday, Kevin!
