'Yellowstone' Will Officially End After Season 5, With Final Episodes to Air in November

Welp—we've got some sad news: Yellowstone will officially end after season 5!
Paramount confirmed the news with an announcement that the Western series will begin its final episodes sometime in November, with the series finale (!!!) set for December. But that's not all—Yellowstone will be immediately replaced by an untitled sequel series. The new show (which expands the Yellowstone universe some more) will air on Paramount Network in December and will later be available for streaming on Paramount+.
Passionate Yellowstone fans have heard rumors about the show's doomed future for a bit now, but that doesn't mean this news is any easier to swallow! So after you've had a deep breath (or two), continue reading for more details.
No official word on the untitled sequel's plot was released. However, David Glasser, CEO of 101 Studios, gave a brief statement that makes us somewhat hopeful: “The Dutton story continues, picking up where Yellowstone leaves off in another epic tale. We are thrilled to bring this new journey to audiences around the world.”
Though the cast for this new series is not yet known to the public—we can assume (based on Glasser's remarks) that we'll see some familiar faces. Previously, it was announced that Matthew McConaughey would be starring in a Yellowstone spinoff. We can't officially say that these two series are related, but oh, can we presume!
The news of Yellowstone's official end comes after months of speculation that Kevin Costner would leave the series. There was outstanding gossip about Costner's upcoming Western film, Horizon, and the conflicts it caused with showrunner Taylor Sheridan's proposed Yellowstone filming schedule. It's also hot on the heels of the news of Costner's wife, Christine Baumgartner, filing for divorce—which broke on May 3.
The continuation of Yellowstone's story will mean a great deal to fans. The series has continually broke records, with the first part of season 5 bringing in "over 17 million total viewers," according to Paramount.
Seeing this massive success, Sheridan has gone on to create other popular shows for Paramount, such as Yellowstone prequels like 1883 and 1923, as well as shows like Tulsa King. He's also behind highly anticipated shows like Lioness and 1883: The Bass Reeves Story.
