The Yellowstone prequel 1883 ended in February 2022 after one heart-wrenching season. The show was confirmed to be limited to one season only, and it aired exclusively on the streaming service Paramount+. Now things are changing, and fans have questions.

Paramount announced that, as of June 18, the show will be airing on Paramount Network, so cable subscribers who didn't want to pay for the Paramount+ streaming service will now have a way to watch. Episodes will drop each Sunday, with an extended featurette at the end of each one.

The official Yellowstone and Paramount Network Instagram accounts shared the news with the message, "Mark your calendars for the premiere of #1883TV on @paramountnetwork." This led to confusion among fans, who mistook it for a season 2 announcement. They left comments like, "What? There’s a season 2?," "wait is there a season two???!!! Im confused by this post 😂😭," and "Would love a season 2 for 1883."

Unfortunately, Paramount has confirmed that a second season is not in the cards for 1883 fans. To add to the confusion, another spinoff is in the works, titled Lawman: Bass Reeves (originally called 1883: The Bass Reeves Story). This new Taylor Sheridan-helmed series will take place during the same time as the 1883 saga, but the storylines will not overlap. Rather, Lawman: Bass Reeves will focus on the first Black Deputy U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi (portrayed by David Oyelowo).

If you haven't watched 1883, be sure to tune in. The Western series starring Sam Elliott, Faith Hill, and Tim McGraw is not to be missed.
