Earlier this year, Country Living had a chat with ACM Award winner Lainey Wilson about her blossoming career in the country music industry, including being asked to perform for the season 4 finale of Yellowstone. Fast forward a few months and the news that the rising star just shared with fans sounds like fate.

As one of today's top television shows that reaches fans from all different backgrounds (yes, even "Hotline Bling" singer Drake!), Yellowstone has several spinoffs in the works and is gearing up for the anticipated season 5 premiere this fall. Now, after being a featured artist on the show, Lainey is making her debut as one of the newest cast members. She shared the unbelievable news with fans on Instagram saying, "see y’all on season 5 of @yellowstone 💛"

Now THIS is the mashup fans didn't see coming, but it sure is a match made in Montana heaven. Earlier this year, Lainey had this to say about the opportunity to perform for the show. "Yellowstone really kind of goes hand and hand with the way that I was raised. Besides all the gruesome parts, it's a show about doing what's right. It's about fighting for what you want and fighting for your family and that's what I grew up knowing."

The "Things a Man Oughta Know" singer's comments were flooded with supportive messages from Yellowstone co-stars and fans alike:

  • "Get it cowgirl!"

  • "BOSS MOVES ONLY"

  • "HECK YESSSSSSSSS"

  • "THE MOST DESERVING!!! So excited for you!!"

Lainey will be playing a musician named "Abby" which is a natural fit considering we already know she has the chops to earn a number one spot on Billboard's Country Airplay with "Never Say Never."

When we asked her about landing this dream opportunity, she had nothing but praise for the show's cast and crew who welcomed her with open arms. "Every opportunity I have to step outside my creative comfort zone is a treat for me — I like doing things that are scary. I’m newer to acting, so this is actually the perfect way for me to step into that television world because Taylor [Sheridan] created a role that lets me lean into my own personality and artistry."

Lainey will be joined by a star-studded cast in this new season of Yellowstone, including Kai Caster, Dawn Olivieri, and so many more. We're just counting down the days until we can catch Lainey make her debut on Sunday, November 13!
