In case you were worried that Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan wouldn't have enough to keep him busy, you can relax. In addition to the mega-hit ranching drama, the Jeremy Renner-fronted Mayor of Kingstown, the Yellowstone prequel series 1883 and its upcoming companion series 1923, and a still in-the-works Yellowstone spin-off set on the 6666 ranch, Sheridan's latest show, Tulsa King, will be keeping the creator busy for a while longer.

Today, Paramount announced that the Sylvester Stallone-starring gangster show will be coming back for a second season after helping drive their Paramount+ streamer (on which the show is exclusively available) to their highest single-day subscriber numbers ever.

The series, which marks Stallone's first ever television foray, has already become a hit with fans, but the news of a new season still comes as something of a surprise after the star himself seemed reluctant to commit to future episodes recently. In mid-November, the actor told Variety that the television schedule is "beyond tough. I can’t believe some people have done this for four, five or six seasons. It’s brutal, compared to filmmaking. I’ll never say, ‘This is a hard shoot’ again on a feature. It’s a vacation compared to this! It really is.” He added, “I talked to my wife about [future seasons]. If she comes along with the kids to the set to visit, perhaps. But it’s a big decision, it really is.”

Originally announced under the working title Kansas City, the new Paramount+ series Tulsa King stars the 75 year old (perhaps best known for his Academy Award-winning 1977 film Rocky as well as a string of fan-favorite action movies) as a modern-day East Coast mobster who is forced to relocate to Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Tulsa King follows New York mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi (Stallone), just after he is released from prison after 25 years and unceremoniously exiled by his boss to set up shop in Tulsa, Okla. Realizing that his mob family may not have his best interests in mind, Dwight slowly builds a “crew” from a group of unlikely characters, to help him establish a new criminal empire in a place that to him might as well be another planet.

When will Tulsa King premiere?
