Yeezy Hiring Army of Minimum-Wage Workers

The artist formerly known as Kanye West is looking for minimum-wage workers to staff up his culturally polarizing Yeezy brand.

The @Yzy Instagram account on Thursday posted a cryptic listing for a graphic design internship based in Los Angeles. “Join our creative community where we are building a future in clothing,” it read. A link in the Instagram story posting directed visitors to an L.A. Craigslist ad listing full-time Yeezy internships in a range of areas. “This is an exciting opportunity at one of the most innovative operations worldwide,” according to the ad promoting “(YEEZY) FOOD SHELTER CLOTHING INTERNSHIP”.

The Yeezy ad said it will “prioritize” internship candidates with “interest and experience” in apparel manufacturing, graphic design, photography, photo editing, pattern-making, social media, warehouse logistics and product development. The listing offered an hourly wage of $16.04, the city of Los Angeles minimum before it rises to $16.78 on July 1. In addition to a resume and cover letter, interested candidates should also submit their social media handles or photos showing their “personal style.”

Ye’s move comes as former Yeezy partner Adidas on Thursday began selling off its remaining stockpile of co-branded gear, with plans to donate the proceeds to charitable anti-hate organizations.

Yeezy recently opened its new corporate offices on Melrose Ave., steps away from the Adidas flagship store in Los Angeles. In early May, Mascotte Holdings, Inc., an entity owned by Ye, registered for a trademark with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for a product called YZY Sock Shoes—“socks with leather soles.” He showcased the minimalist design at a secret Yeezy Season 10 fashion show later that month, which featured models with shaved heads wearing white T-shirts and black pants, reportedly designed by wife Bianca Censori.
