New Year's 'Tennis Ball Drop' for Dogs Is a Stroke of Genius

The pups absolutely loved it!

New Year's Eve isn't generally considered a favorite holiday of the canine world (looking at you, Thanksgiving), but that doesn't mean that dogs should be left out of the fun. Instead of lighting loud fireworks or staying up all night, one Kansas City bar and dog park celebrated with a Tennis Ball Drop for all the pups in attendance. As you can imagine, it was a hit both in person and on TikTok!

Ruskin the beagle mix, who goes by @ruskyadventures on social media, was one of the lucky dogs who attended the event at Bar K. Judging by his pure shock at the magical moment--we think he had a great time!

Happy New Year, Ruskin! We thought it was so sweet how he took in the whole moment with his loved ones--though maybe he was just captivated by the giant tennis ball. If he were, we wouldn't blame him!

"Why am I crying at the tennis ball drop for all the good puppers?" asked commenter @karinamoore6. It's the most precious thing! Our best buddies deserve to have an exciting moment just as much as we do, and the folks at Bar K accomplished this flawlessly. Just like @mari.lexi said, this is "the only kind of ball drop I’ll attend." We'll see you there next New Year's Eve!

"My basset hound and I were there for this," @mizzoumomof2 said. "So much fun!" We sure hope your pup got a tennis ball to ring in the new year! Ruskin sure did, and he'll be having a blast for the entire year to come.

What a fantastic way to ring in the new year! It's one event both the pups and their parents will cherish for a lifetime.
