YB Loves: An Exfoliator For Hypersensitive Skin

Each day the editors of Yahoo Beauty are sharing one noteworthy product we feel should be on your radar. From the latest and greatest items that land on our desks to indie products with a cool backstory to the old standbys that have earned a permanent place on our vanities, trust us: you’ll want to check them out.

I drink kombucha and put The Beauty Chef Inner Beauty Powder on top of my Greek yogurt regularly — but I’ve never thought about topical applications of probiotics. A few months ago, I snagged a bottle of Aurelia Probiotic Skincare Refine and Polish Miracle Balm ($98) from the beauty closet, mainly because I liked the pink-and-gold packaging and thought it’d look pretty sitting on my vanity table. However, it’s become one of my favorite skin enhancing products.

The balm, which has eucalyptus, chamomile, rosemary, and bergamot essential oils for scent, can be used as a daily mask to rejuvenate your skin with a fresh glow. You can also use it to exfoliate. The probiotic yogurt powder breaks down dry skin cells and helps dislodge stubborn clogged pores along with refining beads. (Don’t worry — the refining beads are made of rice bran and are completely biodegradable.)

As someone with extremely sensitive skin, I have to be especially careful of what I’m exfoliating with, and this is gentle enough to get rid of dead skin cells without aggravating my skin. This is the best exfoliator for hypersensitive skin that I’ve used so far. I wouldn’t call this balm a “miracle” by any means, but it’s a versatile and gentle skincare product that does what it says — makes your skin glow by sloughing off dead skin — without any typical side effects of abrasion, like redness or irritation. Note that glowing skin also comes from within. If you’re not eating right (including those probiotics that clean out your gut), your skin can only glow so much, even after wearing miracle balm.
