Yara Shahidi Makes the Case for Generation Z Yellow

In a head-to-toe yellow outfit, the trailblazing Black-ish and Grown-ish actress is leading the Generation Z Yellow trend

If you need any further proof that yellow is truly the color of Generation Z, then look no further than 18-year-old Yara Shahidi clad head-to-toe in fifty shades of yellow.

On Saturday night, the actress and activist shared an image of herself wearing a bright, marigold yellow tracksuit by Persian designer Melody Ehsani, with a mustard Elizabeth and James coat. In Shahidi's one-tone dressing masterclass, it's all in the detail. Wearing a lemon Chanel bum bag across the body, and revealing marigold Converse in another picture shared to her Instagram story, nothing escaped the yellow takeover.

Socially aware, politically engaged and a vocal spokeswoman on everything from intersectional feminism to the Black Lives Matter movement, Shahidi is a quintessential member of Gen Z. On-screen and off, the Black-ish and Grown-ish star is a committed powerhouse who is constantly championing diversity and calling out injustice.

Though she's largely known for her teenage activism, Shahidi is also a major sartorial player: she has an Ivy Park campaign under her belt and is a brand ambassador for Chanel. At a recent talk, Shahidi covered feminism, education and the value of personal style: "I think dressing is such a form of expression and when you do events, it’s important to feel as though you are authentically yourself. Maintaining a sense of your personality grounds you in your space, I try and just make what I wear a reflection of how I feel at that moment, at that particular place in time."
