Yara Shahidi Dressed Up as Aaliyah in an Episode of "Grown·Ish"

There’s no denying that Yara Shahidi knows how to nail a look — whether it is on the red carpet, on the street or on-screen and her latest is the perfect proof.

The Black·ish and Grown·ish star has once sent the internet into a spin with a throwback dress-up moment, almost cosplaying as beloved ‘90s R&B singer Aaliyah. Posting a picture on Instagram wearing head-to-toe Tommy Hilfiger, the actor sent us back to one of Aaliyah’s most iconic looks: her 1996 Tommy Hilfiger Jeans advertising campaign.

The vintage bandeau, underwear, Timbs, and jeans combo seems to have made the morning of fans, as many took to Twitter to praise their new queen and point out the resemblance. “I had to do a double take on IG. I thought our Lord and Savior came back this morning and brought Aaliyah with Him. Yara Shahidi got me S H O O K,” one Twitter user shared. Even Beyoncé and Solange’s Mom, Tina Knowles, had no choice but to stan this moment, commenting some flame emojis under Yara’s IG post.

The look is one that many Grown·ish fans will be tuning into the spring finale for, which airs at this Thursday, March 5, on Freeform. The upcoming episode, titled “Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number,” will celebrate Yara’s character Zoey’s 21st birthday with a ‘90s-themed party (hence the Aaliyah costume).

As well as getting a better look at the Aaliyah costume, we can expect other iconic throwback moments in this week’s episode. With talk of Pulp Fiction costumes and a revisiting of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake’s coordinated denim look! We’ll for sure be tuning in!
