XFL: Arlington Renegades beat San Antonio Brahmas for their first road win of the year

The Arlington Renegades offense continues to struggle, but they scored just enough to beat the San Antonio Brahmas 12-10 on Sunday at the Alamodome.

The Renegades improved to 3-2 overall, picking up their first road victory.

The Brahmas dropped to 1-4.

Trailing 10-6 at halftime, the Renegades pulled ahead for good in the third quarter when they put together a season-best 98-yard scoring drive. Running back De’Veon Smith capped the drive with a one-yard touchdown run. It’s the second straight week he scored.

The defense again played well, shutting out the Brahmas in the second half and holding them to just 188 yards int he game.

For the fifth straight game, Arlington also forced more turnovers as the Renegades had three turnovers. Defensive back Joe Powell picked off San Antonio’s Reid Stinett in the third quarter, his second straight game with an interception.

Taylor Russolino kicked filed goals of 43 and 25 yards for the Renegades’ first-half scoring.

The Renegades return to the field on Sunday when they host San Antonio at Chocktaw Stadium. The Renegades trail Houston (4-1) by a game in the XFL’s South Division.
