An Xbox Controller That Smells Like Pizza Now Exists

Microsoft just unveiled a pizza-scented Xbox controller, and no, this is not a joke.

In honor of Paramount Pictures’ upcoming film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, Xbox said the company plans to give away a limited number of wireless controllers in an "ooze green" shade and made to smell like a fresh slice of 'za–only the turtles favorite food.

The controller is designed in four variations, each representing the signature colors, weapons, and personality of one of the Turtle brothers: Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo. And in case you were wondering how the smell got there, it's not because the controllers are caked in grease. Instead, they each feature a built-in scent diffuser shaped like a slice of delicious New York ‘za.

Those looking to get their hands on the limited edition wireless controllers can do so by following Xbox Game Pass on Twitter and retweeting the official Xbox Game Pass sweepstakes tweet. The giveaway will run from July 24 through Aug. 13, 2023, and all the details can be found right here.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is set to release in cinemas on Aug. 2 and stars Jackie Chan, Seth Rogan, Ayo Edebiri and John Cena alongside Nicolas Cantu, Micah Abbey and Brady Noon, among others.

The official synopsis reads: "After years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them."

Microsoft isn't the only company that's used out-of-the-box marketing to win over customers in the recent months. This past fall, Chipotle hired someone to design cargo pants from its napkins, last week, AMC worked with Mattel to create popcorn containers inspired by Barbie's own corvette, just a few days ago, Popeyes hopped on the "girl dinner" trend, releasing its own take on the viral sensation, and who could forget about Crocs' Lightning McQueen collab?!
