'X-Files' and 'Stargate SG-1’ Actor Michael Kopsa Dead at 66

His death was announced on Twitter by his ex-wife and actress Lucia Frangione.

Michael Kopsa has died. 

The actor, known for his roles in cult-favorites like The X-Files, Highlander, Smallville, and Stargate SG-1, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 23. 

He was 66. 

His ex-wife, Lucia Frangione, announced the news on Twitter, “The great Michael Kopsa, my dear friend and the father of my child, Nora, passed away Oct. 23, 2022, of a brain tumor."

“He was an incredible stage and screen actor, voice actor, carpenter, musician and painter. Most importantly, he was a loving and richly present father," she added. 

As Frangione mentioned, the Canadian actor was also known for voice acting where he appeared in projects like Dragon Ball Z, Ninjago, Death Note, Action Man, X-Men: Evolution, Iron Man: Armored Adventures, and Planet Hulk Alien Racers.

Kopsa's love for acting started at an early age when he moved from his home in Toronto to New York City to pursue his big-screen dream. He attended Manhattan's Circle in the Square Theatre School for four years and completed the course in 1984, before making his film debut in the 1985 movie, Timing.

The Hallmark Channel's respective Instagram account shared a post in honor of the late actor, writing, "A friend and colleague to many, today we honor the legacy of Michael Kopska. Always in our hearts ❤️"

Days of Our Lives actress Ali Sweeney commented, "Such a heartbreaking loss. #rip" while Heartland actress Cindy Busby also showed her respects, writing, "An incredible actor and an even better human! Sending so much love ❤️ #RIP"
