A trailer is out for WWE 2K24, the latest installment in the long-running wrestling franchise. This year, Cody Rhodes, also known as “The American Nightmare,” is featured on the cover of the WWE 2K's standard edition. The Deluxe Edition will be fronted by the duo of Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley, marking the first time in history that two women have shared the game’s cover.

In honor of the 40th anniversary of WWE’s flagship event, WrestleMania, the team will also be releasing a Forty Years of WrestleMania Edition. Rather than a sole cover star, the special edition showcases artwork depicting fighters such as The Rock, The Undertaker, Hulk Hogan and more.

Leading the updates to the game are four new match types, including “Ambulance” and “Special Guest Referee.” There’s also a mode called “Showcase…of the Immortals,” where players can actively relive some of the most iconic moments in WrestleMania’s storied history, for which developers took footage throughout the decades and adapted them into gameplay.

Other across-the-board updates include revamped AI facial expressions for all fighters and a robust roster of more than 200 playable characters. Developers have also added new weapon types, the option to throw weapons and a ranked leaderboard for the team-building MyFACTION mode.

“Fresh off the highest-rated game in franchise history, the WWE 2K development team continues to build on that quality,” President at Visual Concepts Greg Thomas said. “WWE 2K24 offers more match types, new MyRISE storylines and characters, improvements to gameplay throughout, a 2K Showcase 40 years in the making, and so much more. I’m very proud of the work the team has done to bring this experience to life, and I look forward to seeing players enjoy the game.”

The Deluxe Edition comes with MyFACTION Cards for Belair and Ripley, as well as one-of-a-kind attire for the fighters. The Forty Years of WrestleMania Edition, meanwhile, instant unlocks all of the playable characters and has a special anniversary arena, alongside other exclusive content.

Priced at $59.99 USD for previous-gen consoles and $69.99 USD for current consoles, WWE 2K24 is available for pre-order now ahead of its launch on March 8. The Deluxe Edition runs for $99.99 USD, while the Forty Years of WrestleMania Edition will be available for $119.99 USD.
